Valor is a large dark purple late-season plum with yellow flesh, similar to Marjorie's Seedling both in colour and season, but with a sweeter flavour.
It was developed in Canada, and inherits most of its qualities from Imperial Epineuse, a dessert plum with a very sweet flavour, originating in France but mainly grown in North America. Valor's other parent is Grand Duke, introduced by the famous Rivers Nursery in the 1880s, and regarded as a good culinary plum.

Valor is self-sterile and needs to be pollinated by another tree of a different variety nearby. Since it flowers in the middle of the blossom season it can be pollinated by most other plum trees.
Our online pollination checker lists suitable pollination partners for this variety.
