Red Devil is, as the name suggests, a bright red apple. The red colour is usually solid with no other colours present, and it can become very intense and crimson when it is fully ripe.
Red Devil has an unusual feature in that the red skin bleeds slightly into the flesh, producing an interesting staining effect in the flesh just below the skin.
The flavour is fairly well balanced between sweet and sharp, and there is a sometimes a slight strawberry element to it. Red Devil produces a very attractive pink juice, and this alone is a good reason for growing it.

Red Devil is self-fertile and does not need a pollination partner, although fruiting may be improved if there is a compatible tree of a different variety nearby. Since it flowers in the middle of the blossom season it can be pollinated by most other apple trees.
Our online pollination checker lists suitable pollination partners for this variety.

Red Devil has been developed for the UK garden, and is one of the easiest and most reliable varieties.
It is also self-fertile so no pollination partner is required. It is easy to grow, and has some disease resistance.
